Your morning begins with a private guided walk through the V&A Waterfront. Starting at Nobel Square, explore the historic harbour, the Clock Tower, the Silo District and other landmarks while learning how a nineteenth-century port developed into one of Cape Town’s best-known neighbourhoods.
At the Nelson Mandela Gateway, board the ferry across Table Bay to Robben Island. The official museum experience includes a guided bus journey around the island and a visit to the former Maximum Security Prison. Hear about the island’s long history of banishment and imprisonment, visit important sites including the limestone quarry and Robert Sobukwe’s house, and see the cell where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in prison.
After returning to the Waterfront, complete the experience with a relaxed three-course lunch at Karibu, featuring a choice of South African and Cape-inspired dishes.
The day is built around the 09:00 ferry. Robben Island Museum asks passengers to check in at least 30 minutes before departure, so the Waterfront walk starts at 07:15, the island is behind you by about 12:30, and lunch falls at a relaxed hour rather than mid-afternoon.
On the island itself you are with Robben Island Museum’s own guides, who lead the bus route and the prison. Your Everlasting guide hands you over at the Nelson Mandela Gateway and is waiting when the ferry returns — the museum’s guides are part of what makes the place what it is, and no outside guide may take their place.
Private collection and return are included for up to four guests staying in the City Bowl, V&A Waterfront, Green Point, Sea Point, Camps Bay and the nearby Atlantic Seaboard. Pickup from Constantia, the northern suburbs, the airport area or destinations farther from central Cape Town may carry an additional transport charge.
Ferry departures are decided by Robben Island Museum and depend on the weather and sea conditions. If the museum cancels the sailing we look for another date or rearrange the day around what can still run; where that is not possible, everything the museum refunds is passed back to you.

Where does this tour start?
This tour starts from Your Cape Town accommodation in the City Bowl, V&A Waterfront, Green Point, Sea Point, Camps Bay or the nearby Atlantic Seaboard, from 06:45. Guests who do not need transport meet their guide at 07:15 at Nobel Square, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, 8001. Exact pickup or meeting details are confirmed with you during booking.

Do I pay when I book?
No payment is taken when you send a booking request. We confirm availability first, then share payment details before anything is finalised.
Can I cancel or change my booking?
Robben Island Museum tickets are date- and time-specific and are bought in each guest’s name as soon as the booking is confirmed, so from that point the ferry and museum portion is normally non-refundable. A cancellation is assessed against what the suppliers will actually refund, and everything we recover is returned to you. A sailing cancelled by Robben Island Museum is handled separately: we look for another date first, and refund whatever the museum returns.
